Birmingham Trip

We went on the Birmingham trip as planned but we set out a bit late…couldn’t wake up. Hehe.. Only left the house near to 12 noon. Before setting off, we grabbed some food from the motor services. Had some paninis, toast and coffee…well, decaffeinated caramel latte in soya milk …..haha. I can’t take caffeine, makes me ill sometimes. I ordered the same for hubby except his is decaffeinated mocha in soya milk. Taste good….
We had to use the back roads/country roads instead of the motorways because there had been an accident and the police had shut down one side of the motorway. We came off another junction and went on the motorway…the traffic was still quite bad for many miles on the other side…but for us, it was clear.
It only took us about 30-45 minutes to reach Birmingham. The weather was a bit mad, there had been some light snow. But then after a while it tried to rain then the sun came out, then it tried to snow and it just goes in a circle…totally mad…

Birmingham City University

The Mailbox, another shopping complex..

Chinatown is very near the Bullring…

We went to the Bull Ring shopping centre. I actually had quite high expectation of the place but it was so-so… I had seen better ones..so it was a bit of a let-down. Did not buy anything…only 2 coats for hubby from Debenhams, it was on offer. I was gonna get an Ipod, then change my mind…

Quite expensive parking..

Inside the Bullring…

The place was packed..it was the Easter holidays..

Posh sinks…look at it…. great-looking..

Outside the Bullring….

By the time we finished walking at Bull Ring, it was quite late. I wanted to go to the Hard Rock Cafe in Birmingham, guess what….I had to walk like a mile, well, it felt like a mile, searching for it…It has closed down!! Darn!! I was pissed and disappointed!
Now there are only 2 Hard Rock Cafe in the UK. One in Manchester and one in London. I think that there are also one or two in Wales and Ireland..
I took these photos while searching for Hard Rock Cafe….

It’s very nice at the canal….but damn freezing..

I also popped in at Wing Yip, grabbed some stuff and then we headed back.

So, it was not a very impressive trip overall. Won’t be going back there in future I guess, unless there is something that I want from there.
when u said bullring is near Chinatown, I thought it’s the place the bulls fight.
But then shopping in uk a bit potong stim la, shops close so early. Like baru warm up, shop close.
Ya ler…potong stim close early…
Looks like a nice trip, even though you don’t think so.
I love all the photos you took.
Thanks! It was a nice day out….just a bit let-down…not what I expected…hehe

U mean the shop close early or totally close down?
So the shops there also close early? Reminds me of the time when i was in NZ, around 6pm.
Only on Thursday they close at 9pm.
Pubs are open until late over the weekend.

I have only been to Birmingham once in the 90’s. I don’t think there is anything else that I can’t get here or London that I can get in Birmingham.
Wing Yip is in Croydon but I think when it comes to seafood, See Woo in Greenwich is better.
wow…
I saw the Malaysia restaurant!!
thx for sharing~~
that’s what happens when there is an accident on the motorway …. they close down one side of the motorway …. even if its just involves 1 lane ! Too safe if u ask me … I was stuck on the motorway for nearly 30+mins (at least) on my way to Cardiff …. word is there was a minor accident … can see ppl getting out of their car and sit outside and read newspaper like nothing ever happened…. funny scene
